Sodafish - Lakes Entrance, Victoria.

Best laid plans can always come undone. Before leaving home on our ten day road trip the wife had checked-out “Off the Wharf” seafood restaurant. But on arriving for dinning it was closed though the web site said “open”. Only a short drive from there, back in town is Sodafish. This two part restaurant floats on pontoons and for us elderly has ramps and a lift to “float” you to up-stairs.

Lower deck is a bar and upstairs a fish eatery. There are alternates on the menu but when in a fishy situation, eat fish. Pricing, which never worries us but may others, is on the rich side. Fortunately we had had a good lunch and more out for the experience rather than a big meal. 

Service was excellent and super friendly. The view was good though where we ate felt a little like an add on room, bare, plain and just there to get more bums on seats. Food was good but not generous. If you want a big meal be prepared to shell-out what is left after your taxes. Don’t let me put you off the experience was good and to fill you up you may need to empty your wallet. Food quality is good though. 

Parking is easy and off street, music is a bit loud and for me not conducive for a pleasant romantic night out. You may see it different. You can eat at the upstairs bar. My suggestion here is go, at least once then decide;- a keeper or move on. 

Taste of Avon - Stratford, Victoria.

Currently on a ten day road trip so the next posts to follow will be from that trip. First day out and after three or so hours of driving, time for lunch. Taste of Avon  happen to right where we parked. Stiff legged, we waddled into the restaurant. It felt like a country pub with a restaurant feel. Plenty of seating here inside and out. And a window seat had us down and menus up. We both ordered different entrees and both meals were excellent. 

The staff member was friendly and helpful and food was served in a short time. There is seating outside but it was winter and inside was warm and pleasant. Not hard to imagine this place packed in holiday seasons for Saturday nights drinks or meals. Only complaint was the music, disco I think, was shocking and on our request was turned off. We were the only people in at the time. If you are local, holidaying or driving past, for a generous, good tasting meal, drop in.

Tarra - Queenscliff Restaurant, Victoria.

 If you want a pleasant dinning experience it can definitely be found here at Tarra. While catching up with the wife's friend and staying overnight in the Queenscliff region we lunched here.  Tall glass windows look out onto the bay and provide a big bright dinning experience.

Food is very good and reflected in the price. Good portions and well presented. Décor is basic but tasteful with high ceiling and polished concrete floor. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the meals came out in good time. 

There is easy parking but the car park can get full with ferry passengers coming and going. We lucked it and got a spot near the restaurant. I would be happy to go back for another meal this is a great dinning experience in a smart but relaxed environment. Go and see if I’m not right. 

Winstons, Black Rock, Victoria.

Easy to recommend this fine eatery. As with all good services you will be expected to pay accordingly. Fine dinning its not but very, very good the food quality, quantity and presentation it definitely it is. Service is brisk and friendly, decor good and parking OK but you may have to search for it.

Winstons is there to ensure you have an excellent dinning experience in a warm friendly environment. Food selections are plentiful with all tastes catered for. Cocktails, sparkling wine and beer are all available and service right on. No need to raise your voice here like so many other restaurants, dinning here is a quiet and enjoyable experience, as it should be. As long as you are happy to pay for good food give this pleasant place a go. It could end up your favourite or just a good one-of eating experience. Recommended. 

Mythos Gyros Bar - Oakleigh, Victoria

 This will be short. In short the food was not very good. Dry, cold and in some cases tasteless. But plenty of it.  Mythos Gyros Bar is big with restaurants open both sides of the mall with outdoor seating between. The place was packed and service was good but when you go for the food and its not good, go else where.
