Copperwood - Lygon Street, Carlton

I had my work’s Xmas party at Copperwood in Lygon Street Carlton this year (2013). Usually there are one-hundred and twenty of us from the southern part of the state and quite often there is a show or some form of entertainment. These are held in big open heartless function rooms. Food and entertainment are just so-so. Not this year. There was only sixty of us and no show but some very good food. In fact the organisers chose Copperwood based solely on the food.

Parking around Lygon Street can be a real nightmare and I had to park over two blocks away. It was only a short and pleasant stroll to the venue right in the middle of Lygon Street. The restaurant caters for quiet meals for couples, drinks only and small functions. I didn’t expect much but glad to say I got a very pleasant surprise. There was plenty of wait staff to take drink orders and once they started with food service it just didn’t stop. Firstly share platters of seafood, meats and anti-pasta were placed two to a table. This continued for quite some time to the point I thought this is "the meal”. The food was delicious with even the squid being delightfully tender and flavorsome.

Everyone at my long table agreed the food and service were excellent. Drinks arrived within minutes of being ordered and food was hot and plentiful. Staff was very friendly and professional. Just when we thought we couldn’t eat any more the main meal arrived. Again this was a good serve and of good quality. If you are in the area and would like an excellent modern decor restaurant for a drink or meal do drop in. Copperwood is a very pleasant dining spot and if food and service is even close to what sixty of us experienced, you’re in for a treat.
